The two artists I focused on were

current artist: Ethan Becker

master artist: Raphael Collin

I looked at Raphael Collin's portrait work, and applied the way he did highlights as well as hair. My hair is inconsistent and in the reference isn't very well defined, using his messier technique to give an impression of hair. Rather than using a white charcoal That Raphael would've used, I used a white gel pen for the highlights due to my whiter paper. My values could be worked on, around the cheak area. My primary issue, was not getting my proportions right before working the tones, which having to fix, made some of the tones messy. for the eyes, I kept them set even using a masking tecnique I picked up from an Ethan Becker video on youtube, this helped immensely in keeping things together, it helped position the nose and the lips. I don't know the exact amount of time this took me because I worked on and off, there are things i know I could fix, but with how much time was poured into it, it'd be better to just move on and keep those mistakes in mind for the next piece.
